The Telegraph- Strangeways prison smugglers crash delivering drugs and mobile phones

Summary
On the 9th of november, a drone crashed into Strangeways, a prison in Manchester. The drone was used to smuggle drugs and mobile phones into the prison. These items are sold within the prison for a lot of money, which makes buying the drone profitable. Smugglers use the drones because there are not many camera’s pointed at the sky and the prisoners can get their goods of the drone within 30 seconds. The use of drones is becoming more common these days. Landing a drone in a prison is currently not illegal , but the Ministry of Justice is working on the matter.

Opinion
I never actually thought about people using drones to get items into a prison. I have to say it's quite clever. But why is this not illegal? Drones have been around for quite some time already, so why aren't the prisons adapted to this technology? I find it really weird that smugglers can get their goods into the prisons and that there is a market for these goods inside the prison. It really surprises me. For now I think it's important to stop this form of smuggling and make sure prisons are more up to date with the latest tech, because before we know it weapons will be smuggled into the prisons with drones and things will get out of hand.
